First ER visit

This has been one of those weeks that is so out of the ordinary for us. It started with Emma passing away on Monday, Carter's surgery on Tuesday, and then our first ER visit with Carter yesterday. He woke up at 4:15 Sunday morning and was so hot. He had sweat through his jammies and all over his sheet. I typically wouldn't be super worried except that a fever is one of the signs of infection from his surgery. So it took us about 45 minutes before we decided to take him to the ER. It just wasn't worth waiting to get checked out and his urologist wasn't open that day to call and ask. We spent 4 1/2 hours at the ER and found out that he did have a bladder infection. Poor guy! I know we could have found that out at the doctor but I didn't want to wait. I wanted him taken care of right away and the ER is the only way to do that. He was a trooper but sitting in a hospital room with a very tired 13 month old is never easy. They had to get a urine sample which took FOREVER! They tape a little bag over his "area" and then we just have to wait for him to pee. It took two hours! Then it took forever to get the results back. He eventually fell asleep on me and took a little nap. He has had a rough week. He didn't feel good the rest of the day! And he was up a lot in the night with a fever. I am praying the antibiotics kick in quick so he will start feeling better. I think the craziest thing about our day is that my step mom had a skiing accident and ended up in the ER later that day with a separated shoulder. We went down to visit her and all the nurses were thinking we were back because of Carter. One nurse said we needed to have our own room. And Lori's room happened to be the room right next to the room we were in all morning. What a crazy week. :)
