Our Seattle Trip

Jay's dad, step mom, sister, brother, Grandma, and nephew all live in Iowa.  This means we don't get to see them very often :(  We have been there four times together which is basically once a year.  Not enough.  But we just don't have any other options since it is quite costly to fly us all there.  But this year they were actually heading to our part of the country to go on a cruise that left out of Seattle.  So they planned an extra day at the beginning of the trip and we went up there for a night and spent an entire day with them touring Seattle.  This was their first time meeting Madelynn and only their third time seeing Carter.  We had such a great time!  Sadly we didn't get to see Grandma, Wade, and Kayden.  But hopefully we will get out there soon!

This is what it is like packing for a trip these days.  Two little munchkins right in the middle of the mess and chaos.  But I wouldn't have it any other way!

Madelynn was trying to roll over before we left for Seattle but just couldn't quite get her arm out from under her.  She is rolling over now just fine but I am a bit behind on posting these pictures.  The story of my life lately...a bit behind on everything!

We picked them up at the airport when we got into Seattle and Carter had a great time wondering around the airport while we waited for them.

Wrestling with Grandpa in the hotel room.  My kids are so blessed to have so many grandparents in their lives who love them so much!

Carter slept in a big bed all by himself.  Our kids actually did really well sleeping in the hotel room.  I was a bit nervous!  In the middle of the night I woke up and noticed he had his blankie under him so I put Madelynn's blanket on top of him.  Don't mind the pink!

Pikes Place Market

Aunt Nicole snuggling with her neice and nephew.

Carter with Grandma and Grandpa.  Carter fell in love with his Grandma and Grandpa and aunt Nicole in about two minutes flat.  It's like he had been around them his whole life.  I love that!

We rode on the duckboat.  This is a boat that can go on water and land.  It was a very fun tour!  Carter LOVED it and spent a lot of the time sitting with his Grandpa.  At some point though he wanted to come back and sit with daddy and then promptly fell asleep.  He got to see all of the water tour part though which was the most fun for him.

Sleepless in Seattle house

We got to watch a seaplane land next to us.  Carter loved that!

And then he just couldn't take any more.  He was so tired!

Jay and Carter are inside this fountain.  There is a little sidewalk that runs down the middle of the fountain.

He was always walking around with his hand in his pocket.  Yep, he's a stud.

We also went to the top of the Space Needle.  Madelynn was hungry and tired at this point :)  If it's not one that needs a nap, it's the other.

Carter was giving her a kiss to try and make her happy.

After dinner we let Carter run around on the pier.  It was about time to make the four hour journey back home so we let him get his final wiggles out.

And of course blow his duck whistle that Grandpa bought him just a few more times.  We were not going to let him blow it in the car!

We were laughing because Madelynn looks like she is doing the Jennifer Gray move in Dirty Dancing.

We love our family!  Thanks guys for letting us come spend the night and day with you!  We had such a great time and can't wait to come to Iowa to see you again and see everyone else.
