California 2012

We were able to do our annual California trip again this summer.  We love this trip and had a great time showing Carter everything.  This is the first time he was old enough to understand things we were doing and really enjoy everything.  He loved everything!  Swimming, Giants games, Cable Cars, Grandma and Grandpa time, seeing new things, and being a big boy and getting to do big boy things.  It was fun watching him enjoy all these fun things.

Some of these pictures are out of order and I'm not really sure what happened.  As soon as we hit the road Carter put his sunglasses on and was ready for the long trip to Windsor.  He did pretty well on the drive other than sometimes screaming randomly to wake Madelynn up.  That drove me nuts!  We would finally get her to sleep and he would yell just to be a stinker!

This is what Madelynn did most of the drive...Screamed :(
It was a long drive!  We didn't leave Salem until about 4:30 in the afternoon because Jay had to work all day.  We got to Windsor about 3am.  Madelynn pretty much cried the first five hours and then finally went to sleep for the night around 9:30.  Once the kids fell asleep the trip went pretty well and we could finally just drive without stopping every hour.

This was probably Carter's favorite part of the trip.  Swimming, swimming, and more swimming.  This kid LOVES the water and could spend the entire day in it.

Madelynn in her water attire.  She got to swim for the first time.  She was fine with it but didn't seem overly impressed :)

Four months old and cuter than ever!

Riding on the cable car.  Carter loved this!

He loved watching the guy driving the cable car.

Giants game!  He enjoyed this too but did get a little squirmy after a while.  It's a lot to expect a two year old to sit nicely for three hours straight.

We really enjoyed playing shuffle board this year.

There is a build a bear store at the Giants stadium.  We finally decided this was a good year to let him build his own stuffed animal.  We decided to do Lou Seal (the Giants mascot) and Carter loved doing this.  He still loves his "Louie" and sleeps with him every night.

Waiting in line to get his Lou Seal stuffed.

Stuffing Lou Seal.

Making his birth certificate.

Dinner at Bubba Gump's on the Wharf.

Riding the very expensive carousel on the Wharf.
But he loved it!

Our family on the cable car.  This is the first time we have ever sat in the inside of the cable car.

He loved filling his hat up with water and pouring it out.

Grandma and Carter waving at us at the pool from our deck.

We had a great trip and enjoyed getting away for a week.  I hope they will still want to invite us again after dealing with the craziness of a two year old and a baby for a week ;)
