Our first post...

We decided to start our own family blog. I have been looking at so many other blogs lately that I was inspired to start one. I have appreciated being able to follow so many friends and what is new in their families. This is a great way for us to communicate with our friends and family. We hope that it will also be a great resource for our kids to have to look back on.

Here is a little about us so far. My husband, Jay, and I got married last December in the middle of a rare Salem snowstorm. We had a beautiful winter wonderland wedding out at the Oregon Garden with all of our family and friends. Jay has been the best husband a girl could ask for and I appreciate him more than I can describe. We bought our first house four months later in April. I love to decorate it and be creative while Jay loves to work on home improvements. I am so thankful for a husband that is handy!

Jay is an EMT for Rural Metro Ambulance here in Salem. He works on medic three out in the North part of town. He is great at his job and most of the time loves it. He also works part time on the ambulance in Lyons. He was a volunteer firefighter for Stayton Fire Department for four years until he married me and moved to Salem. He loves hiking, backpacking, fixing things, camping, snowboarding, and spending time with me.

I am a second grade teacher at Willamette Christian School. This is my fifth year teaching and I am still enjoying it. I am thankful for a school where I am loved and accepted by all Christian teachers and staff.

The exciting news in our family is that we are expecting our first baby in February. We are having a baby boy that we are completely and totally in love with already. His name is Carter Stephen. Carter is just a name we both loved and Stephen is Jay's middle name. Right now my favorite thing is to just sit and feel him move and kick inside me and watch my belly move all around. So far he is healthy and perfect and we can't wait to meet him.
